Halal Products Explorer
TANGKAK, April 26 (Bernama) — Malaysia is still the world’s biggest halal products exporter with total exports amounting to RM32.8 billion even though the export value is only five per cent of the overall exports last year.
Last year, exports rose by 2.4 per cent from RM17.17 billion to RM719.81 billion.
Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Hamim Samuri said Malaysia was the only country that issues, controls, administers and manages halal certificates worldwide.
“We are the world leader of the halal products industry and there are still many more markets for halal products that can be ventured into,” he said when launching the maulidur rasul celebrations at the Sultan Ismail Mosque in Tanjung Agas here Saturday.
About 1,000 people from all strata of society attended the celebrations jointly organised by three electronic companies and the Ledang district kadi office.
The companies are ST Microelectronics (M) Sdn Bhd, Micron (M) Sdn Bhd and Pioneer Electronics.
The deputy minister also invited Muslim entrepreneurs to seize the business opportunities in the trillion dollars worth of the world halal industry sector.
On the information technology (IT) sector, Hamim said Muslim IT experts in Malaysia have succeeded in curbing activities of Islamic deviant teachings
which adopted the “cut and paste” method of the contents in the holy Al-Quran.
“They add the “juzuk” in the Al-Quran from the original 30 juzuk to up to 100 “juzuk” via the “cut and paste” approach to confuse Muslims.
“Hence, we Muslims must acquire IT skills and knowledge not only for our progress, but also to preserve the sanctity of Islam,” he said.
Hamim said Malaysia had succeeded in producing 150 Malay Muslim aeronautical engineers who are now working with Airbus, France-based aircraft manufacturer.
“With their involvement in the aeronautical sector, bears testimony that Muslims can also progress and move forward in the aerospace and aeronautical industries in future,” added Hamim, who is also Ledang member of parliament.
